Pickup Truck Strikes Motorcycle, Kills Bike's Passenger

PORT HURON (AP) - A 49-year-old woman has been killed after a pickup struck the motorcycle she was riding on in Port Huron.

Police say Saturday that Dawn Lenker of Sterling Heights in the Detroit area was pronounced dead at a hospital. The 47-year-old operator of the motorcycle also was hospitalized.

Port Huron police say the pickup's driver hit the motorcycle and pushed it a short distance before crashing into another vehicle about 6:45 p.m. Friday. Two people in the other vehicle also were injured.

The pickup was stuck in traffic at a raised bridge when officers approached. Police say the 37-year-old driver appeared incoherent and tried to drive off. He resisted arrest and was taken to a hospital.

Police say the driver may have suffered a severe medical condition before the initial crash.
