Pedestrian Walking Along I-375 In Detroit Struck, Killed By Vehicle

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police say a pedestrian who was walking along I-375 near downtown Detroit before dawn was fatally struck by a passing vehicle.

The accident happened around 5:30 a.m. Saturday on southbound I-375 in the exit lane to Jefferson Avenue.

According to police, a 38-year-old Eastpointe man was walking in the exit lane when he was struck by a southbound traveling vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver immediately pulled over and called 911, telling police he didn't see the man walking in the road. The driver was uninjured.

The victim's name has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

The accident remains under investigation.
