Pedestrian Struck By Semi-Truck On Telegraph Road

BLOOMFIELD (WWJ) - Police say a pedestrian was rushed to the hospital after being struck by a semi-truck along a popular Oakland County road.

The accident happened early Friday morning on northbound Telegraph Road just north of Maple Road in Bloomfield.

Pratik Potie was working at the BP gas station on the corner when he heard the crash.

"The truck was moving and I heard something drop or something, I don't know, it was a noise," Potie told WWJ's Mike Campbell. "I looked outside, there was a lady, she was running out there and she was screaming 'Call 911! Call 911!'"

The victim, described as a man in his mid-20s, was taken to Beaumont Hospital. The man was conscious when the ambulance left the scene, according to police, although his current condition is unknown.

Police said the semi-truck driver, who was uninjured, stopped at the scene and is being cooperative.

Telegraph Road was closed for several hours while police investigated but has since reopened.
