Pedestrian Critically Hurt, Struck By Semi Truck On I-94

CASCO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - Westbound I-94 was closed for about two hours in St. Clair County Monday morning after a semi truck hit a pedestrian.

The St. Clair County sheriff's department says the 48-year-old woman, from Macomb County's Chesterfield Township, was struck at around 11:30 a.m. Monday.

She was reported in critical condition at Detroit Receiving Hospital Monday afternoon. The truck driver was not injured, according to the sheriff's department.

The expressway's westbound lanes were closed at Fred Moore Highway in Casco Township, about 10 miles southeast of Marysville. Motorists were urged to avoid the area until the freeway reopened to traffic at around 1:30 p.m.

Deputies from the sheriff's office were assisted at the scene by Memphis Police, Ira Township Fire and Rescue and Richmond-Lenox EMS.
