Pedestrian Killed In Rush Hour Traffic On Telegraph Road

REDFORD (WWJ) - Authorities say a 47-year-old woman was killed when she was struck by a vehicle on Telegraph Road in rush hour traffic.

The accident happened Tuesday evening on southbound Telegraph Road at Glendale, just south of I-96 in Redford.

Sgt. Duane Greg said the woman was initially waiting for the light to cross the road.

"She stepped into traffic and she was struck by a southbound vehicle that was in the left curb lane," Greg told WWJ's Jon Hewett.

The driver did stop at the scene and was questioned by police. Greg said the driver indicated they "never saw her prior to the impact."

The woman's name has not yet been released.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
