Pedestrian Killed Crossing John R Near Square Lake; Teenage Driver Questioned

TROY (WWJ) Troy police are investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian and a teenage driver.

Investigators say 56-year old Aruna Sugasani was crossing John R south of Square Lake Road around 6:30 last night when she was hit.

She was taken to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital where she died. The 17-year old driver suffered a minor injury.

He stopped, was questioned by police, and released. Police do not think alcohol was a factor in the crash.
