Pedestrian Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver In Northern Oakland County

OXFORD TWP. (WWJ) - Authorities are searching for the driver who fled the scene of an accident after fatally striking a pedestrian in northern Oakland County.

The woman was discovered dead around 4:20 a.m. Tuesday along Drahner Road at Olive Street, just west of Lapeer Road in Oxford Township.

Circumstances surrounding the woman's death weren't immediately clear, but police say she was struck by a vehicle that left the scene.

Sheriff's deputies say evidence at the crash scene suggests the accident took place several hours before the woman's body was found by a newspaper delivery driver.

Debris from the vehicle that hit the woman was found nearby but at this time, police haven't identified a suspect.

The woman's name has not been released, but police say she is from Brandon Township and in her 20s.

It's not yet known if the wintry weather played a role in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has any other information is urged to call the Oakland County Sheriff's Office tip line at 1-888-TURN-1-IN.
