Pedestrian Injured, Struck By Vehicle Outside Westland Restaurant

WESTLAND (WWJ) - A pedestrian was injured in a crash late Tuesday morning in Westland.

Details of what led to the incident were still sketchy as of noon, but witnesses said one person was taken to a local hospital following some kind of fight outside Rocky's Family Dining on Wayne Road north of Palmer.

"There was an altercation," Francis Roland told WWJ Newsradio 950's Sandra McNeill. "There were several waitresses outside waiting for the ambulance. The guy was on the ground and apparently he was injured enough to be taken away."

Roland said other witnesses reported that a man ran out of the restaurant, chasing another man in a truck.

It's not clear if the man was hit by the truck or another vehicle.

WWJ Traffic Reporter Lorna Stevens said all southbound lanes of Wayne Rd. were blocked at Palmer due to the incident. It's unclear when the intersection would reopen. Motorists were asked to avoid the area while an investigation was underway.

WWJ has a call out to Westland police for more information.
