Pedal-Powered Pub On Wheels Coming To Harsens Island

HARSENS ISLAND (AP) - A pedal-powered pub on wheels is coming to Harsens Island.

Barrel Bike Bar is a 15-passenger pedal-pub that will be visiting the island several times this year, The Times Herald of Port Huron reported. It will take a three-hour tour around part of the island while passengers drink brews and help pedal.

Renee Poole, a Barrel Bike Bar co-owner who grew up on Harsens Island, says she was excited to bring it to the island that's located at the mouth of the St. Clair River, about 30 miles northeast of Detroit. The cost is $400 total for 15 people, drinks not included.

Last year, Gov. Rick Snyder signed a law allowing passengers to drink alcohol on such pedal-powered vehicles. Local governments still can restrict onboard drinking.
