Elusive Peacock Wandering Dearborn Heights Streets Is Captured

DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ/AP) - An elusive peacock that was spotted wandering in a Detroit suburb has been captured.

Representatives from the Michigan Duck Rescue and Sanctuary caught the bird Wednesday afternoon in Dearborn Heights.

The peacock wasn't causing problems, but had been surprising area homeowners, like Sandy Vanassche.

"It's just a beautiful bird up on my roof," Vanassche told WDIV-TV. "There have been sightings this week. I knew it existed."

The peacock usually lives in a courtyard at Edsel Ford High School in Dearborn, but it apparently got away during construction at the school.
