Parolee Arrested After Triple Stabbing, Assault Involving Children In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - A parolee is back in police custody after he allegedly broke into a west side home, assaulted an 11-year-old and stabbed three others, including two children.

The incident unfolded late Tuesday night at a home in the 12100 block of Monica north of Elmhurst Street, between I-96 and Livernois Avenue in Detroit.

According to police, the 32-year-old man broke into the home, reportedly through the front window, and assaulted an 11-year-old girl by kicking her repeatedly. The man then went on to stab a 12-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy and their 34-year-old mother, according to police. The injuries have been described as non-life threatening, although their current conditions are unknown.

A neighbor called 911 and the suspect, described as a recent parolee, was quickly taken into police custody.

Other circumstances surrounding the attack weren't immediately clear. Police haven't yet discussed a motive.

Neighbors tell WWJ the suspect is the injured woman's ex-boyfriend.
