Open Houses Scheduled For 2 Fully Rehabbed Detroit Homes

DETROIT (AP) -- Open houses are scheduled for two west side Detroit homes that have been fully rehabbed under a new program between the city, Quicken Loans and Home Depot.

The Detroit Land Bank Authority says the open houses begin at 11 a.m. Saturday on Prairie and Monica streets. Online auctions are scheduled Wednesday and Thursday.

The work on the houses is part of the "Rehabbed and Ready" program, an effort to help stabilize neighborhoods by rehabilitating empty houses and making them move-in ready for auction. Up to 65 houses will be improved under the program.

Home Depot with local contractors will oversee renovation of the houses, which are owned by the Land Bank. Quicken Loans is coming up with a $5 million grant to help finance the work.
