Oil Company Suspends Plan For Well At Oakland County Park

WHITE LAKE TOWNSHIP (AP) - A company that proposed an injection well at a Detroit-area park has withdrawn its request.

White Lake Township Supervisor Greg Baroni tells The Oakland Press that Jordan Development of Traverse City has suspended its permit application. The company proposed last year to place the well at Indian Springs Metropark in Oakland County's White Lake Township, northwest of Detroit. It would have been used to dispose saltwater produced from nearby oil well drilling.

Baroni says the company requested the Environmental Protection Agency suspend the permit application because it didn't have significant oil discoveries in the area.
