OHL Approves Plymouth Whalers' Move To Flint

PLYMOUTH (WWJ/AP) -- The Ontario Hockey League has approved plans to sell the Plymouth Whalers and move the team to Flint. The OHL's Board of Governors in Toronto approved the sale to IMS Hockey for play at Flint's Perani Arena during the 2015-16 season.

IMS USA announced plans to buy Flint's Perani Arena in December.

Details of the planned sale by Peter Karmanos Jr. were announced last month at Compuware Arena, where the Whalers currently play. Karmanos co-founded software development company Compuware and owns the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes.
