Ohio State AD Gene Smith Takes Jab At Michigan; Calling It A Jump Start Program

Who is Michigan's main rival? Michigan State fans would probably say the Spartans, but any Wolverine fan or just casual college football fan across the country would say Ohio State.

I would agree with America that Ohio State is the Wolverine's main rival — but at what point does a rivalry go away when one team never wins?

Over the past ten years, Ohio State holds a 9-1 record over the Wolverines. In Jim Harbaugh's first season as the main guy at Michigan, his team fell to OSU 42-13 at Michigan Stadium.

While meeting with reporters Tuesday afternoon, Ohio State AD Gene Smith took a nice little shot at Michigan.

In reference to Michigan having their spring practice in Florida, Smith said, "If we were jump starting our program, I'd probably try to do that too."

In all honesty, Smith really isn't that far off base. Michigan is trying to jump-start their program back to the national powerhouse it once was. To become that national powerhouse, I think it's important that Michigan starts beating their rivals, Michigan State and Ohio State.
