Officials: Inmate Caught After Scaling Michigan Prison Fence

NEWBERRY, Mich. (AP) - Officials say an inmate has been captured after scaling a fence at a prison in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

The Michigan Department of Corrections says 19-year-old Alize Montague was caught around 4 a.m. Tuesday about mile from the Newberry Correctional Facility in Luce County. The department says he was spotted climbing a fence about two hours earlier.

Officials say Montague was serving a 5- to 10-year sentence for crimes in 2015. Department records say he pleaded no contest to charges that included assault by strangulation or suffocation, malicious destruction of property and resisting arrest in Monroe County.

He's likely to face charges in the escape attempt. The Department of Corrections, state police and local law enforcement all were involved in the search for Montague.
