Obama Congratulates Pittsburgh Penguins On Stanley Cup Win

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is congratulating the Pittsburgh Penguins for their victory this month in the Stanley Cup.

Obama spoke to Penguins Head Coach Mike Sullivan on Wednesday. The White House says Obama praised the talent of the team's players and commended them for teamwork and dedication.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest says Obama also invited the championship team to the White House for a celebration marking their victory.

The Penguins claimed their fourth Stanley Cup title earlier in June after defeating the San Jose Sharks 3-1 in Game 6. The victory was a turnaround for the team after a difficult start to the season.
