Oakland University Apologizes For Offensive Mike Tyson 'Thlow Down' Tweet [PHOTO]

ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) - Oakland University has launched an investigation after someone tweeted out an offensive meme of boxer Mike Tyson from an official police account.

The tweet from @OUPD, sent around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, said "Thlow down and thake your thime" with a picture of Tyson. Roads were slippery at the time and driving conditions were hazardous from freezing rain and snow.

In a statement to WWJ Newsradio 950, the university said the tweet was removed as soon as they were made aware of the situation.

The tweet "was not authorized by the Oakland University Police Department police chief or administrative lieutenant in charge of social media. We are investigating the source of the post," the statement read.

The school said the login credentials to the account have since been changed.
