Oakland County Schools Hiring Bus Drivers To Kitchen Helpers

OAKLAND COUNTY (WWJ) - Close to half of Oakland County's 28 public school districts are looking for new school bus drivers and food service workers.

The demand is so high that Oakland Schools intermediate district is hosting a School Job Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27 to help match these districts with potential employees.

"More than a dozen Oakland County school districts are looking for immediate help in their transportation and school nutrition departments," said Danelle Gittus, spokeswoman for the intermediate district.

Full and part-time opportunities are available as school bus drivers, school bus aides, school bus substitute aides, and food service (cafeteria) personnel.

Districts participating in the job fair are Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Clarkston, Farmington, Lake Orion, Novi, Oxford, Rochester, South Lyon, Southfield, Walled Lake, West Bloomfield and Crescent Academy.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with several districts and school representatives, ask questions about positions of interest and apply for positions. Attendees are asked to bring copies of their resume and copies of any current certifications.

Oakland Schools is located at 2111 Pontiac Lake Road in Waterford across Telegraph from the Oakland County government complex and north of the former Summit Place mall.
