Oakland County Middle Schooler Pulls Knife In Fight Over Girl

INDEPENDENCE TWP. (WWJ) - A 13-year-old Oakland County boy is being held at a juvenile detention center after he allegedly threatened other students with a knife at school.

It happened at Clarkston Middle School in Independence Township.

According to Oakland County Sheriff's Officials, when the teen got into a "heated" argument with two male classmates over a girl, the boy pulled out a four-inch switchblade and announced: "Step up and get hurt."

No one was injured, authorities said, the weapon was taken from the student by school staff and deputies were called to the school.

A Oakland County Sheriff's School Liaison Deputy interviewed the student with his mother present at the Independence Township substation. The boy was then taken to Children's Village where he awaits formal charges for felony assault.

His name will not be released due to his age.
