Oakland County Father Arrested For Suspected Abuse Of 3-Month-Old Child

BRANDON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A 36-year-old father is expected to face charges after police say his 3-month-old child showed up at the hospital with injuries consistent with child abuse.

The Oakland County Sheriff's office says the Brandon Township man was arrested Thursday after deputies were contacted by Child Protective Services.

CPS told investigators that the infant suffered broken ribs, retinal hemorrhages, and subdural hematomas that appeared to be consistent with child abuse.

Deputies went to the child's home, in the 3800 block of Cherry Street, and made contact with the parents. The father was taken back to the substation and after further questioning, was placed under arrest.

"It was determined that the father was responsible for the injuries sustained to the child," police said in a statement.

The man remains in custody at the Oakland County Jail, pending charges.
