Nursing Assistant Charged With Abuse Of Elderly Patient At Novi Nursing Home

NOVI (WWJ/AP) -- An employee accused of elder abuse in Whitehall Healthcare Center has been arrested and charged for allegedly beating a patient earlier this week.

William Hill, 28, of Westland was issued two counts of third-degree vulnerable adult abuse by the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office, each count punishable by two years in prison. Hill was arraigned on Friday and is being held on $11,000 bond.

Hill was a Certified Nursing Assistant at the facility where 62-year-old Thomas David -- who suffers from dementia -- allegedly required emergency treatment for injuries from an employee.

The incident was reported by an employee of the facility on Wednesday.

The company that runs Whitehall Healthcare Center said in a statement it is "thoroughly investigating and cooperating with all local and state authorities."

"The safety of those entrusted to our care is our top priority and as such, we will continue to cooperate at every level," the statement said.
