Severe storms with strong winds move through Southeast Michigan Sunday evening
Southeast Michigan residents are dealing with power outages following severe storms with high wind gusts that passed through the region Sunday evening.
As of 9:10 p.m. Sunday, over 28,000 DTE Energy customers are without service, according to the company's outage map.
Hundreds of thousands of northern Michigan residents throughout the state were without also without power Sunday night after a storm system with freezing rain moved through on Saturday.
As Sunday's system moved through the southeast part of the state, the National Weather Service reported wind gusts of 63 mph at Detroit Metro Airport and Willow Run Airport and 65 mph in Ann Arbor.
The federal agency previously issued a tornado warning for parts of Livingston and Shiawassee counties, which has since expired. Isolated tornadoes had been a concern with Sunday's system.
