New Restaurant Planned For Historic Albert Kahn Building In Oak Park

OAK PARK (WWJ) - The city of Oak Park announcing that a new restaurant will open on Eight Mile road at Thursday night's State of the City.

WWJ's Laura Bonnell tells us why you might think  'radio' every time you eat there.

Oak Park City Manager Erik Tungate says the art deco building was designed by Albert Kahn.

"Our most historic site in the entire city and it's actually the WWJ building on Eight Mile road in Oak Park," says Tungate.

Tungate says the Union Joint Developers purchased the building and plan to open it in late 2017.

"The Union Joint's group is .. that's the group that did the Vinsetta Garage in Berkley and the restaurants in downtown Clarkston as well," he said.

The building is about 20,000 square feet.

No word yet on what food will be served up there or what the name will be but Tungate says it's his guess that it may have the WWJ call letters in it and the mention of Eight Mile road.
