New Apartments, Hotel Planned For Detroit's East Riverfront

DETROIT (AP) — A real estate development company says it will build apartments and a 120-room boutique hotel along Detroit's east riverfront as part of a $136 million project.

City Growth Partners announced the project Tuesday that would include 360 apartments and nearly 40,000 square feet of retail. It says each apartment, hotel room, and retail space will feature views of the Detroit River.

Company founder and principal partner Moddie Turay says the development "will be inclusive and offer a compelling destination for all."

Over the past two years, at least two other residential developments have opened along the east riverfront or nearby. The area also is popular with bike riders, walkers and runners who use the RiverWalk promenade and Dequindre Cut recreational trail.
