When Calvin Johnson officially announced his retirement with a statement, not everyone was convinced he wouldn't play another snap in the NFL.

Johnson's former teammate with the Detroit Lions, Nate Burleson, thinks Calvin should come out of retirement next season and try to land himself a spot with the New England Patriots.

"Congratulations on your retirement, man. Now, take this year off ... then find a way to land with the Patriots and get a championship ring. You deserve it," Burleson wrote on NFL.com.

According to CBSSports.com, it wouldn't be that easy for Johnson to end his retirement and just join the Patriots since the Lions still own his rights.

Although that's solid advice, it wouldn't be easy for Johnson to sign with the Patriots if he decided to return. Megatron is still under contract with the Lions, which means if he does make a comeback, the Lions would own his rights.

That being said, it wouldn't be impossible for Johnson to return with another team. if Johnson decided to come out of retirement in July 2016 or even 2017, the Lions would have to immediately account for his cap hit, which wouldn't be easy, considering that Johnson's base salary in 2016 alone is $15.95 million.

I personally think Calvin Johnson is done with football. It never seemed like it was a passion to him but more of a well-paying job. When you have all the money you could ever want, why would you put yourself back at risk?
