Mystery Surrounds Death Of Missing Macomb Boater In Lake Huron

Patrick Michael Presutti

WORTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities have been able to confirm that a body found washed ashore along Lake Huron is that of a missing Macomb Township man — although questions remain surrounding his death.

The Sanilac County sheriff's department says the body of 60-year-old Patrick Presutti was found Sunday by a man walking along a beach in Worth Township, more than a month after he was reported missing following an argument with his wife.

An autopsy Tuesday determined that the cause of death was drowning, with no blunt force trauma or other major injuries.

Presutti's boat — a 31-foot SeaRay — was found by a freighter crew partially submerged Sept. 7 in Lake Huron; and sheriff's officials said it appeared to have been intentionally sunk. Authorities had said Presutti may have been missing voluntarily since late August.

Officials aren't saying if foul play is suspected or what, exactly, they believed happens to Presutti.

The sheriff's department said further information will be made available pending the outcome of toxicology reports.
