Muskegon Heights Man Charged In Three Detroit Murders

DETROIT (WWJ) - A west Michigan man has been charged in connection with three murders in Detroit.

32-year-old Gabriel Cooper of Muskegon Heights was arraigned by video on Wednesday on multiple charges, including first-degree premeditated murder, felony firearm and torture. Cooper is accused of killing 30-year-old Larae Bowman and her brother, Lavon, at a home on Yacoma Street near Eight Mile, in late November 2012. Bowman died of multiple stab wounds and her brother was killed after being shot in the head.

And in January 2013, prosecutors allege Cooper also shot 22-year-old Candest Mills in front of a home on Collingwood Street. No motives for the killings have been released.

Cooper is due back in court on April 28, when he'll find out if he'll stand trial.
