Multiple Fire Departments Battle Blaze At Milford Salvage Yard

MILFORD (WWJ) - Thick, black smoke was sent billowing into the air in western Oakland County Monday as firefighters from several departments battled a blaze at an auto salvage yard near Milford.

Dave Klein, who works nearby the Milford Salvage on East Buno Road near Childs Lake, talked told WWJ about what he saw.

"It's just billowing black smoke, like...if there was some kind of rubber or oil burning, and it was pretty impressive. It was coming down the road about a half-a-mile," he said.

Klein added that he heard and felt what seemed to be a number of explosions.

"It shook our building. You could feel the concussion from a good quarter-mile away."

Firefighters from Milford, Commerce Township, Novi, Walled Lake, Wixom, Lyon Township, Highland, Wixom and Green Oaks Township were assisting at the scene.

There have been no reports of any injuries.
