Multiple Detroit Schools To Close Early Wednesday Due To Extreme Heat

DETROIT (WWJ) - More than a dozen Detroit Public Schools are closing early Wednesday because of the heat.

Due to a heat advisory — with temperatures expected to feel like 100 degrees — students at Clipper Multicultural Honors Academy will be dismissed at 1 p.m.

Additionally, the following 12 schools will dismiss at 1:30 p.m. to lack of air conditioning in the buildings:

1. Cody High School Campus
2.Communications and Media Arts
3. Detroit International Academy for Young Women
4. Detroit Lions Academy
5. Osborn High School Campus
6. Randolph Vocational High School
7. Renaissance High School
8. Turning Point Academy
9. Western International High School
10. East English Village Preparatory High School
11. Ludington Magnet Middle School
12. Davis/Golightly CTC

All K-8 schools in the Detroit Public Schools Community District have a regularly scheduled early dismissal, which will proceed as normal.

The district says extra water will be provided to all schools due to the heat.
