MSP: Excessive Speed Played Role In Crash That Killed Man On I-96

DETROIT (WWJ) - State police say that excessive speed played a role in a fatal crash along I-96 in Detroit.

Troopers responded to the crash just before 1 p.m. Sunday on westbound I-96 and the Davison Freeway.

The driver, a 32-year old Detroit man, was thrown from his vehicle -- authorities say he was not wearing a seat belt.

He later died at Sinai Grace Hospital. Authorities have not released the man's name.

Police think the man was driving too fast and lost control of his car, which rolled over several times in the crash.
