Movie To Focus On Detroit News Anchor's Life With Vitiligo

DETROIT (AP) - Three filmmakers with ties to Michigan are producing a movie based on a Detroit news anchor's life with vitiligo.

Filmmakers Luke Jaden Sawicki, Cort Johns and Phil Wurtzel have optioned WJBK-TV morning anchor Lee Thomas' 2007 book, "Turning White." The filmmakers plan to write and produce the film version of the broadcast journalist's story about living with vitiligo, a skin disorder that causes loss of pigmentation, under their new company, Eden Road Pictures.

The company's launch was announced earlier this month. Its mission is to produce films that will make an impact with their positive messages.

Thomas will serve as the film's executive producer.
