Motorist Killed In Crash With Semi-Truck On US-23

MILAN (WWJ) - One person is dead and four others are being evaluated after a freeway accident just south of Ann Arbor.

The accident happened around 12:30 p.m. on southbound US-23 near Willis Road in Milan.

A spokesperson with  Huron Valley Ambulance says the accident involved a car and semi-truck, although other circumstances weren't immediately clear.

One person was killed in the crash. One of the injured is in "unstable condition," and another is being treated at St. Joseph Hospital. The other two are being treated at University of Michigan Health System.

Southbound US-23 closed at Willis Road for almost six hours after the accident.

Traffic backups were reported as far as four miles away in early afternoon.
