Motorcyclist Dies After Early Morning Accident

CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) - Police say a 22-year-old man has died after crashing his motorcycle into a Macomb County ditch.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. Thursday on Groesbeck Road near North Avenue, just south of M-59 in Clinton Township.

Police said the motorcyclist, identified only as a Macomb man, was traveling northbound on Groesbeck in the right lane when he left the roadway and lost control of his vehicle on the grassy shoulder, crashing into a ditch.

The man was taken to the hospital where he later died. His name was not released.

No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who might have witnessed the crash or who has any other information is urged to contact police at 586 493-7894.

Groesbeck Road was closed for several hours while police investigated but has since reopened.
