Motorcyclist Killed After Striking Deer, Being Hit By Truck

PINCONNING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 68-year-old motorcyclist was killed after striking a deer and being hit by a truck as he lay in the roadway.

The Midland Daily News and WNEM-TV report David Obertein of Bentley was riding in Bay County's Pinconning Township Wednesday evening when he hit the deer. He was thrown from his bike, which landed in a ditch, and he was struck by a pickup truck.

Obertein, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene.

Police say dark clothing and conditions contributed to the second crash.
