Motorcyclist Dies After Crashing Into Turning Minivan

MACOMB TWP. (WWJ) - Authorities say a man has died after crashing into a minivan in Macomb County.

The Sheriff's Department says 29-year old Jeremiah King died at the hospital shortly after the accident, which happened around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of 23 Mile and Romeo Plank roads in Macomb Township.

According to police, a 2009 Chrysler Town & Country minivan was in the process of making a left-hand turn from southbound Romeo Plank Road onto eastbound 23 Mile Road when it was struck by a 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle, which was traveling northbound on Romeo Plank Road.

King, who was wearing a helmet, was rushed to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital where he later died.

The other motorist, a 42-year-old Shelby Township woman, was uninjured.

A third vehicle that was in the intersection at the time of the crash was damaged as a result of flying debris.

Police say test results are still pending but it does not appear that alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

The intersection was closed for several hours as police investigated the scene, but has since reopened.
