Motorcyclist Clings To Life After Collision On Michigan Avenue

CANTON (WWJ) - Police say a 25-year-old Monroe man is in critical condition after his motorcycle collided with an SUV in Canton.

The accident happened just before 8 a.m. Friday on Michigan Avenue near Lotz Road.

According to police, the man was driving a Honda CBR600 motorcycle eastbound on Michigan Ave. when he struck a Chevrolet Equinox that had apparently pulled out in front of him.

The motorcyclist was transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti where he was listed in critical condition. The other driver, a 53-year-old Ypsilanti man, was uninjured.

Police say witness statements indicate that speed may have been a factor "on the part of the motorcyclist."

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone who might have witnessed the accident is urged to contact police at 734-394-5400.
