Mother Arrested In Death Of 16-Year-Old Daughter

ONONDAGA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say an Ingham County woman has been arrested in connection with the death of her 16-year-old daughter.

The Ingham County Sheriff's Office says 43-year-old Cari Ann Wright of Onondaga Township was arrested Monday. She's charged with murder, first-degree child abuse and torture.

The sheriff's office says deputies were called to a home in November for a death investigation, and detectives began an investigation into allegations of child abuse, torture and homicide.

According to the sheriff's office, those charges were referred to prosecutors and a warrant was authorized Feb. 24. The sheriff's office says the offenses are alleged to have happened at the family's home.

Wright was denied bond and is being held at the Ingham County Jail, according to The Lansing State Journal. An attorney who represented her during an arraignment hearing Monday declined to comment.

The girl's cause of death has not yet been released.
