Mom, Daughter Enter Pleas In Cruelty Case Involving 126 Cats
MASON, Mich. (AP) - A mother and daughter are expected to be ordered to pay restitution when they're sentenced in an animal cruelty case that began when authorities removed more than 120 cats from a rented Lansing-area home.
The Lansing State Journal reports 68-year-old Lannie Price pleaded no contest Wednesday to a felony of abandoning/cruelty to 10 or more animals while 33-year-old Amanda Price pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor of abandoning/cruelty to two or three animals.
Ingham County Prosecutor Gretchen Whitmer said her office will request significant restitution.
Authorities removed the cats from the Lansing Township home in June 2015. Officials said that of the 126 cats found in the home, 101 were alive and 25 were dead.
About 80 of the cats found alive were later euthanized because of health problems.
