Mom, Daughter Face Jail Time In Bogus Substitute Teacher Swap

WATERFORD TWP. (WWJ/AP) - A Flint woman accused of trying to pose as her mother to work as a substitute teacher is now facing charges, along with her mother.

Twenty-four-year-old Dayonlynn Bell and 44-year-old Donna Farley were charged Tuesday with a charge of false pretenses. Both pleaded not guilty and asked for court-appointed attorneys.

According to a police, Bell used her mother's teacher identification Monday while pretending to be a substitute teacher at Riverside Elementary School in Waterford Township. She was arrested after being confronted by school officials. Farley was later arrested while her daughter was being interviewed at the police station.

Bell allegedly told investigators that she impersonated her mother because Farley didn't want to miss an appointment. Police claim the women admitted they followed through with the scheme because they needed money.

Bell and Farley are due back in court Feb. 23. If convicted as charged, both face up to 93 days in jail.
