Mom, Baby Hospitalized After Being Ejected In Crash

DETROIT (WWJ) - A mother and her 2-month old baby are among seven people hospitalized after an accident on Detroit's northeast side.

The accident happened around 9 p.m. Thursday on 8 Mile and Schoenherr roads.

According to police, a vehicle was traveling eastbound on 8 Mile Road when the driver failed to stop for the yellow traffic signal, striking a vehicle that was traveling southbound on Schoenherr.

A 27-year-old woman and her 2-month-old daughter were ejected from the second vehicle. Both were rushed to the hospital. The woman was last reported in critical condition; the baby is in serious but stable condition.

Two other women from the second vehicle were taken to the hospital in stable condition. Three people from the first vehicle, two men and a woman, are also hospitalized in stable condition.

The accident remains under investigation.
