Missing Macomb County Man Found Dead In Pond Behind Home

RAY TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Police say foul play is not suspected in the death of a missing man found dead in a northern Macomb County pond.

The body of 63-year-old Walter Golembiewski was discover by a Shelby Township dive team in the water behind the man's home — on Hayes Road, near 27 Mile Road, in Ray Township — at around 8 p.m. Sunday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Michigan State Police troopers, who were checking into the missing person's report when the body was found, said there doesn't appear to be anything criminal related to the man's death.

Police say Golembiewski liked to fish and walk by the pond and is presumed to have drowned.

An investigation is ongoing pending an autopsy by the Macomb County Medical Examiner.
