Missing Boy With Autism Dies After Being Found In Pool

CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP (AP) — Police in suburban Detroit say a missing 6-year-old boy with autism has died after being found unresponsive in a neighbor's pool.

Chesterfield Township police had been searching for the boy throughout the day Thursday before he was found in the above-ground pool and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

Police Chief Brad Kersten says the boy went missing in the morning. Police officers searched the area and canvassed the neighborhood, telling residents to check their backyards, sheds, and pools. A neighbor found the boy in the pool and called 911.
