SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) - Shelby Township Police have confirmed that a body pulled from a pond at an apartment complex Wednesday is that of a missing 18-year old woman.

Madyson Carolyn Redpath-Kirkwood — who went by "Mady" — was last seen near the Oakhill Apartments on West Utica Road, between Mound and Ryan roads in Shelby Township, on Friday, Sept. 23.

The body was discovered in a retention pond by contractors working near the apartments at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

At around midnight, Redpath-Kirkwood's mother posted in a "Missing in Michigan" Facebook group that she believed it was that of her daughter; and authorities officially identified the victim Thursday.
