Misdemeanor Warrants Issued For 2 Surviving Teens In Triple Fatal Stony Creek Crash

MT. CLEMENS (WWJ) - Misdemeanor warrants have been issued for the two young survivors of a Stony Creek car crash that killed three others.

Macomb County Sheriff's officials said the 18-year-old men, who were 17 at the time of the May 8 incident, have been charged with Minors in Possession of Alcohol (MIP).

"Through the course of the investigation it was determined that the two survivors had consumed alcohol before the crash," said Lt. John Michalke. "The charges are brought under township ordinance; they're termed township ordinance violations. They're punishable by 90 days in the county jail and/or a $100 fine."

No criminal charges were brought by the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.

Officials say the driver, 17-year-old Jonathan Manolio, was traveling between 70 and 80 miles an hour when the black Jaguar slammed into a guard rail, then into Stony Creek lake. The car rolled over five times in total and four of the five passengers were ejected from the vehicle.

Along with Manolios, of Sterling Heights, Emanuel Malaj, 17, of Sterling Heights and Michael Wells, 17, of Macomb Township also died. The survivors — Joseph Narra and Greg Bobchick, of Shelby Township— were critically injured.

Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said autopsies and medical records show all five boys had some amount of alcohol in their blood: 0.08 percent for Manolios, 0.07 for Wells, 0.02 for Malaj, 0.02 for Bobchick and 0.03 for Narra.

Wickersham said one of the teens had used a fake ID to by a 12-pack of Corona beer, a pint of Crown Royal whiskey and a pint of rum that were found in the vehicle.
