Millennials Spend More On Moms For Mother's Day, Professor Says

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Millennials get a bad rap -- they're often criticized for being lazy and self-involved.

But according to University of Detroit Mercy marketing professor Mike Bernacchi, they're also more likely to spend some big bucks on their mothers.

"They understand where their bread is buttered, there's no doubt about it," Bernacchi said.

Bernacchi -- speaking live on WWJ Newsradio 950 -- said millennials spend almost twice as much on jewelry than people 35-years-old and over.

"There's a special spot in their hearts and their whole beings for mom," Bernacchi said. "We remember sisters and daughters on these days -- it's very, very important to do that."
