CBS DETROIT - A day after Detroit Tigers star Miguel Cabrera went for what should have been a final checkup following October surgery on his ankle and foot, his status for Opening Day is still unknown.

The team had hoped to get clearance Tuesday for Cabrera to begin baseball activity, but the organization will have to wait a little longer to find out where he stands.

"The Club was informed that a CT scan was performed today in Miami on Miguel Cabrera and the results were sent to Dr. Robert Anderson who will review on Wednesday," the team announced Tuesday evening.

Anderson performed surgery on Cabrera in October, removing bone spurs from Cabrera's ankle and repairing a stress fracture in his foot. Despite playing through those injuries in 2014, the two-time MVP turned in a batting average of .313 and hit 25 home runs and an American League-high 52 doubles.

The first full squad workout for the Tigers is Feb. 24.
