Miguel Cabrera Tells Fan He Wants To Compete In The Home Run Derby

Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera has 405 career home runs, good for 52nd best all-time. He's won a Triple Crown and multiple MVPs, but never a Home Run Derby.

Cabrera may have his sights on winning some more hardware, tweeting out to a fan on Saturday that he wants to participate in this year's Derby in Cincinnati -- but only if he make the All-Star team.

Cabrera finished third in the 2006 Home Run Derby and fourth in 2010. He is batting .354 with 15 home runs and 53 RBIs in 72 games this season

In the latest tally, Cabrera stormed forward to take a 1.3 million vote lead over the Kansas City Royals' Eric Hosmer as the leader for American League first basemen.

Cabrera may have some competition within the clubhouse if he does compete in the Derby, however. Tigers outfielder Yoenis Cespedes has won the last two Home Run Derbys. Before that, Prince Fielder won in 2012 while with the Tigers.
