Middle School Student Suspended After Placing Noose In School Bathroom

ROYAL OAK (CBSDetroit) - A Royal Oak Middle School student has been removed from classes until further notice after admitting to placing a noose in a school bathroom. The school superintendent plans to meet with students Monday.

A noose found in the school on Friday, about a week after students were caught on camera chanting 'build a wall' reports WWJ legal analyst, Charlie Langton.

Superintendent Shawn Lewis-Lakin says the message is clear: inappropriate actions or words will be taken seriously and have serious consequences.

Lewis-Lakin says there are additional counselors and social workers at the school to support students affected by the incident - as well as an additional school safety officer to patrol.

The investigation is continuing and authorities say that criminal charges have not been ruled out.
