Michigan's Miss Basketball: Benton Harbor's Kysre Gondrezick
DETROIT (AP) — Kysre Gondrezick is Miss Basketball.
The award honoring Michigan's top senior on a girls' basketball team was announced Monday by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan and the Detroit Free Press.
Gondrezick averaged a state-record 40.5 points per game and broke a state mark by scoring 72 points in her tournament opener this year before being eliminated in the district finals.
The 5-foot-9 guard from Benton Harbor won easily over Muskegon's Mardrekia Cook, Goodrich's Alexis Sevillian, Cassidy Boensch of Bay City John Glenn and Detroit Renaissance's Siyah Frazier.
Gondrezick signed to play at Michigan next season, making her the first Miss Basketball winner to choose to be a Wolverine in four years and the second in more than a decade.
